SPENDonLIFE $2,000 Credit Blogging Scholarship

Overview

Are you a student? Do you have a blog? The best way to educate students about the importance of credit and battling identity theft is through word of mouth. We want students to help their peers learn how credit affects their lives, and to do so we are going to reward you. We are giving away a $2,000 scholarship to a student who blogs about the importance of credit or the dangers of identity theft.

What Are the Requirements?

To be considered for the scholarship you must write a blog entry on your own blog about credit or identity theft. We are not restricting you on exactly what you must write about, instead we are wanting to use your creativity and researching skills to decide on a more specific topic. We do ask that all entries are less than 400 words. That leaves enough room to communicate an idea effectively but keeps it short enough to keep the reader interested.

Each blog entry must also inform readers on how they can participate in this blogging scholarship. The more people that participate in the program, the more of the general student population that will be exposed to this very important topic.

Who Qualifies?

To qualify you must:

  • have a legitimate blog (blogs consisting of nothing but spam do not qualify)
  • be at least 18 years or older
  • be a full or part-time student of an accredited college or university

Visit our contact form and submit your:

When Is the Deadline?

2008 Winner

Joseph McClellan, a Global Business major at Arizona State University, runs debitversuscredit.com—a personal finance blog he started after a friend came to him one day confused about credit. The blog post that won him the SPENDonLIFE scholarship—Identity Theft is No Laughing Matter—educates readers about the dangers of identity theft using an example from the popular TV show The Office. Joseph has worked in the banking industry since 2005 and plans to pursue a career in financial advising upon graduation.
